Fritz and Erin Rahr founded Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. in the fall of 2004. In nine years, Rahr has exponentially grown its brewing capacity from 2,000 barrels a year to 20,000 barrels a year. The brewery has won over 50 nationally-recognized awards, including a Silver Medal at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival, a Bronze Medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup for Bucking Bock, and was the 2009 National Grand Champion at the United States Beer Tasting Championship for Iron Thistle. Fritz is involved with and continues to give back to the homebrew community in numerous different ways. This time, it's sharing a homebrew version of a beloved recipe with you.

Wonderfully robust, rich and full-bodied, with notes of plum, raisin and chocolate, Rahr's winter warmer recipe is crafted in the fine tradition of British holiday ales. Perfect for both holiday gatherings and quiet evenings at home. Add wood chips soaked in your favorite whiskey in the secondary to give this beer a whole other dimension of character.

So grab a six pack (or two) Of Rahr's Winter Warmer at your favorite beer store this winter and brew up your very own batch too! Make sure to support your local breweries that give back to your homebrew community.

Note:  Selecting the dry yeast option will default to 2 packages as this is the amount of yeast needed to ferment this higher ABV beer.

Very Close Review by Patrick
Brewed up the extract version of this kit and bottled it after three weeks in the primary. After two weeks of bottle conditioning I poured a pint of mine and a pint of actual Rahr Winter Warmer. The color and head were identical in both glasses. The actual Rahr had much more of a coffee flavor than mine, but both were tasty. Fast forward two more weeks and I cracked open another bottle and the difference was amazing. The flavor was much closer to the original. I'm guessing with time it will continue to improve.
If you are looking for a clone kit that does justice to the original, this is a good one. (Posted on 8/9/2016)
Got me hooked! Review by Caleb
This kit got me hooked on Texas Brewing!

I was still a homebrew noob and had only brewed 2x with kits purchased at another homebrew store, but which were supplied/assembled by a national (non-local) homebrew supplier. Both of these attempts were so-so, but being determined to make a fantastic beer, I found Texas Brewing and tried Rahr's Winter Warmer.

It came out so delicious that I didn't want to share, but that's not the spirit of Homebrew now is it? (Posted on 8/9/2016)
