This is a great brew. I have made it 3 times now, and each time it has been better than the last. My wife and I enjoy "Rahr's Texas Red" and this is about as close as I can get to enjoying the same flavor notes with a beer that I have made. The last batch I used Mangrove Jack M-15 dry yeast and it turned out fantastic! It was not as crisp as a Rahr Red, but I think that has to do with the 65* fermentation temp i had it sitting at. I have talked to others that have said a 61-62* fermentation temp will give that bit of a dry crisp flavor. I'm not complaining about the slightly fruity complex flavor I got with the last batch at the temp it was at. I keep well documented notes for all my brews, I am glad that I have the info to reproduce this one again and again.

Any time I cannot think of what to brew, I grab this one. Good stuff!

OG was spot-on (moderately high). One packet of dry yeast, and the carboy almost exploded overnight! After several days the activity seemed to stop; tested the gravity every few days using my refracometer and kinda stalled at 1.026... Still tastes pretty good. Gotter in the keg with CO2 and looking forward to getting a proper taste-test. 4 * s for the weak fermentation. (Posted on 8/9/2016)
