Turbinado sugar is a type of raw sugar made from pure cane sugar extract. The name originates from the cylinder or turbine where the sugar is spun to remove debris from the sugar harvest. It is a brown sugar but paler in color than true brown sugar with a very mild molasses flavor. Usually used in darker Belgian beers like dubbles, quads, or dark strongs.
