Design Away Review by Michael

This book is very helpful with recipe development. Beer recipes can be developed using an app nowadays, but this book gives you the old school formulas for developing a recipe. The "old school" formulas are helpful to better understand how a recipe is developed and what to look for when designing a recipe. It also provides a good overview of the ingredients in beer (water, malt, hops, and yeast). The book provides basic outlines for the different styles to help guide you on your recipe development. And as with anything craft beer, these are only guidelines. (Posted on 7/8/2018)

Good resource for home brewing, lots of formulas for extract to grain ratios, yeast temperatures, how to calculate attenuation, etc. Includes section on styles and recipe creation; going to keep this one close on brew days. (Posted on 8/9/2016)
