In this episode, we recap some of our experiences at the 2018 Homebrewcon in Portland, OR and we have the results of our second British Golden Ale recipe experiment in studio to discuss the recipe changes we made and whether they resulted in a better version of the style and a more crushable beer.
We will have an all grain and extract version of this recipe as a kit in the near future, but until then here is the recipe we discussed on-air:
British Golden Ale pt II
6 gal @ 75% efficiency
Est OG: 1.048-50
Water was treated with Epsom Salt, Gypsum, Calcium Chloride, and Chalk to match a Yorkshire water profile.
Mash temp: 150F for 60 mins
5 lb - Pale Ale Malt
4 lb - Pilsner Malt
8.0 oz - Flaked Barley
8.0 oz - Corn Sugar (Dextrose)
1 oz - Challenger (6.8%) @ 60
2 oz - Centennial (8.9%) @ 10
1 oz - East Kent Goldings (5%) @ 5
2 oz - Centennial (8.9%) @ 0 (15-20 min hopstand/whirlpool)
Yeast - Omega Kolsch II or Mangrove Jack Liberty Bell
